Auto Sales Down But Incentives Up

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

We all know the auto industry is in major trouble but there was a glimmer of good news for March: even though sales for March 2009 were down 37% from March 2008 they were actually UP 25% from February 2009!

The month over month bump may have been due to all the incentives dealers are offering consumers to come in and buy a new car. The average incentive on vehicles sold last month was $3,169, up 30 percent from a year earlier and a record high for the industry, according to the auto Web site Edmunds.com.

So if you’ve got a stable job this could be a great time to purchase a new car, with some incentives equaling or below the auto-makers own employee discounted pricing!

Stop Scrubbing Out Marine Life

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

We know that most of our customers here at Buy-Hawaiian-Seat-Covers.com are doing their part to help the environment and that, especially in Hawaii, our oceans are part of not only our lives but the lives of millions of sea creatures and birds.

Most people are aware of the problem that plastic shopping bags are causing but many people do not realize that when they get up in the morning and wash their faces, the millimeter-sized plastic particles contained in their facial scrubs are washing down their drains and being ingested by birds, fish and sea turtles harming and sickening them

When most people think of plastics creating a problem for animals they assume creatures get entangled in the plastic and die, but the problem is much more extensive than that. One of the significant problems with plastic in our oceans is that plastics do not break down at a significant rate, but rather fragment into smaller pieces which become enticing snacks that resemble food to sea creatures. Plastic in the ocean does not biodegrade, it simply breaks down until it becomes as small as microscopic sea life that is often mistaken by sea creatures for food. These small particles are not only the result of fragmentation but are now being contributed to our waterways through the washing of polyethylene beads directly down drains, the type of miniscule polyethylene beads that are present in virtually every single exfoliating product.

One way to prevent this and still maintain your daily cleansing regime is to use a product that contains crushed seeds and other natural granules instead of polymers or plastic beads. Just check the ingredient list and make sure you don’t find the word “polyethylene.”
