Affordable Ways to Protect Your Car’s Interior

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

So, you’ve plunked down some cash and bought yourself a car. Now it’s time to take a few easy steps to help protect the interior and your investment.

One of the most inexpensive auto accessories you can buy is a simple window shade for the inside of the windshield. Folding or collapsing window shades come in many sizes and shapes as well as colors and patterns so you can find one to match or compliment your interior.

Unlike window tinting, these types of window shades are not attached to the window so they are portable and need no installation. They will provide shade for your dashboard and steering wheel thus protecting your dashboard from cracking as well as keeping your interior a bit cooler.

Another inexpensive way to protect your car’s interior is with floor mats.  Like window shades, floor mats also come in many colors and designs so you’re sure to find a pair that suits your taste.

They can play a crucial role in the maintenance of your car’s interior by keeping the carpeting of you car clean and free from all the mud, dirt and oil stains tracked in on the feet of you and your passengers.

Floor mats also come in a variety of materials, from carpet to rubber and vinyl. These days you can even find your favorite car logo or cartoon characters printed on them.

Lastly, investing in an affordable seat covers is a must-do.

If your car is new, using car seat covers keeps you free from having to worry about stains, rips or scratches in your upholstery.

If your car is a bit older, a new pair of seat covers can make your car look like it has new seats. They can brighten up your car while covering any defects like torn or shabby looking seats.

If you taxi around kids or pets a set of car seat covers will give you peace of mind. If anyone has an accident or spills a juice box on your seats you can either wash them or quickly and easily get a new pair.

Of course we’re partial to Hawaiian print auto seat covers and no matter what the model or color of your car, you’re sure to find seat covers you’ll enjoy at our website: Buy-Hawaiian-Seat-Covers.com

You can easily protect your new investment or spruce up an old jalopy with any or all of these affordable accessories for your car.

Jellyfish Close Beaches in Hawaii

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

For those of you planning a trip to Hawaii you may want to check your moon calendars before making your reservations!

There’s a monthly phenomenon that occurs in Hawaii that most tourists don’t know about, but which has the ability to ruin even the most perfect vacation: invasion of the box jellyfish.

Believe it or not these stinging sea creatures hit the beaches of Hawaii, (mostly Oahu including Waikiki and Hanauma Bay), like clockwork each month approximately 8-10 days after the full moon.

They’re there now with Hanauma Bay being closed to tourists today and lifeguards warning swimmers at Waikiki where 650 of the potentially harmful creatures were found yesterday.

Lifeguards advise people who are stung by the box jellyfish to flush the area with lots of white vinegar and most lifeguard towers keep plenty on hand.

Anyone experiencing breathing difficulty, muscle cramps, spasms or persistent pain is advised to seek immediate medical attention as you may be allergic to their venom, much like some people allergic to bee stings.

If you’re planning a trip to Hawaii we suggest you check this website first as they have a yearly calendar with the predicted invasion dates so you can plan your Hawaiian vacation accordingly: www.808jellyfish.com

Bioethanol – Fuel from Plants

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Don’t throw out those carrot tops, they may be the next generation of biofuel!

Toyota, along with other Japanese companies, announced they are setting up a research company to develop cellulose derived biofuel. Cellulosic ethanol uses inedible plant matter.

In the U.S. corn based ethanol has been blamed for raising food prices along with a host of environmental problems as the fuel uses quite a bit of energy to produce and creates more pollution than it saves.

According to Reuters, the consortium has set itself the goal of producing 1.6 million barrels per year of bioethanol by March 2014, and producing bioethanol at about $70 a barrel by 2015.

The other firms involved include: Nippon Oil Company, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Toray Industries Inc, Kajima Corp and Sapporo Engineering Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sapporo Breweries.
