Hawaii to Consider Nuclear Power

Friday, January 30th, 2009

It sounds hard to believe but with 80% of it’s energy use coming from imported fossil fuel, Hawaii is considering doing some studies on the feasibility and safety of bring nuclear power to the Islands.

Rep. K. Mark Takai, D-34th (Newtown, Waiau, Pearl City), authored a measure that would direct the state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism to develop a permitting process for nuclear energy generation facilities and State Senate Minority Leader Fred Hemmings, R-25th (Kailua, Waimanalo, Hawaii Kai), said he introduced a bill to explore the issue with a panel of experts, including members of the energy community and the University of Hawaii, and set up a nuclear commission that would prepare a report for the Legislature.

Nitrogen in Tires

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Did you know that filling your tires with nitrogen instead of air can help the environment and save you money??

According to GetNitrogen.org -  “With nitrogen tire inflation, improvements can be noted in a vehicle’s handling, fuel efficiency and tire life through better tire pressure retention, improved fuel economy and cooler running tire temperatures.”

Nitrogen is required for use in all airplane tires by the FAA, is used by NASCAR and Indy drivers and is available at most Costco stores.

Detail Clay Restores Your Cars Silky Smooth Shine

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

As soon as you drive your new car off the lot something happens… dirt, grease, grime, air pollution and other contaminants start attacking and attaching themselves to your car’s shiny new paint job. It doesn’t take long before you feel small bumps when you run your hand over you car’s surface where once it was silky smooth.

Washing your car alone will not remove these stuck on contaminants. This is where detail clay comes in. Clay isn’t a polish or a compound, it is a surface preparation bar that smoothes the paint and exfoliates contaminants.

With proper use it will restore you car’s paint surface to that silky smooth feeling it had the day you bought it.

Proper materials and techniques are key and our friends over at Autopia.org have a terrific article titled: Using Detail Clay To Clean Your Car’s Paint”

Of course once you finish protecting and beautifying your car’s exterior be sure to protect and beautify you auto’s interior with a pair of our Hawaiian print seat covers:-P

Auto Show Gets Warm Reception

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Despite freezing temperatures a cooling economy and frozen auto sales the The North American International Auto Show opened as scheduled in Detroit, MI.

Despite the snow and chilly temperature attendance was fairly robust.

Joe Serra, senior co-chair of the 2009 NAIAS, said the previews were an overwhelming success.

“Over 5,300 journalists from 49 countries attended this year’s show, proving the NAIAS is the most significant auto show in North America and one of the top shows in the world,” he said.

We’re happy to see the auto show was still drawing crowds but we bet you couldn’t find a nifty pair of Hawaiian seat covers on any of the cars displayed.  :-P

California Sea Lions Know How To Party

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

We know lots of our customers here at Buy-Hawaiian-Seat-Covers.com are avid beach lovers, surfers, boaters, etc. So we’re sure some of you will get a kick out of this…

This is pretty funny if it’s not your boat. :-) California sea lions have sunk yet another boat in Newport Harbor, (it happens every couple years). The raucous pinnipeds hauled out to sun themselves on a 24-foot Star sailboat, but what is a great sun deck for one doesn’t bode so well when you invite three more of your friends. The weight of all four sea lions sunk the boat.

Every summer hundreds of California sea lions flock to Newport Harbor in Southern California like all the other OC locals and vacationing fashion-istas. Could it be the abundance of fish, all the pretty boats lined up in a row or the “illegal feeding of french fries” that keeps them coming back?
